At Erickson Outdoors, we design, develop and manufacture activewear and technical apparel, bringing three distinct parts of the apparel manufacturing and supply continuum into a seamless whole. Erickson Outdoors is not a brand, but a service: from our apparel design studio and offices in Richmond, California, we manage your customized technical apparel project from start to finish, for a fixed package price. The markets we serve include backpacking, cycling, travel, activewear, skiwear, golf, touring, industrial uniforms and special-use garments.
It’s straightforward, really. People come to us with ideas, and we turn them into inventory. But that’s a complex process and competence is key. Over the years we’ve completed hundreds of technical apparel projects, constantly refining the process each time. We understand how to design a product that functions as promised, produce it efficiently on a large scale and make it profitable for our clients.
Our principals, Mark Erickson, Jan Fletcher and Tom Mann, each have over 30 years in the technical apparel business before they started Erickson Outdoors back in 1989. Today, they bring that deep expertise and technical competence to each project Erickson Outdoors tackles. But they don’t do it alone.
Our team of 25 includes skilled apparel designers, clothing pattern makers, seamstresses, financial analysts and customer support people who play vital roles in each project. And they’re not wet behind the ears — our clothing sample maker used to run her own sewing factory and our domestic production manager headed a contract garment manufacturing site in Oakland. Each member of our diverse team brings a specialized skill set to each project, so you work with experts in apparel design, technical fabrics, sourcing, finances and project management. And they stick around — our turnover is quite low.
Whether we produce your clothing project domestically in one of our U.S. sewing factories or offshore in one of our contract manufacturing sites in Asia, Erickson Outdoors assumes responsibility for the entire supply chain from design idea to delivery of the product.
